FWIW, make sure your DCS/TIU software is also up to date.  A while back I was told by both MTH's Jason and his predecessor Jeff that if you are using an older DCS version (possibly pre-version 4.0 or whatever DCS version out BEFORE MTH moved to a 3-volt system) then the check battery feature will miss-read the battery voltage as "low battery".  Since that earlier DCS software can only recognize 5-volt or 8.4-volt as a "Full or OK" then any newer MTH PS2 locomotive that is NOT from the earlier 5-volt/9-volt proto2 architecture - the later 3v PS2's and PS3 locos - will read "Low Battery"  The newer DCS/TIU software is supposed to be able to differentiate and properly read all versions of PS2 and PS3 engines.

Lastly, if you are using the DCS handheld remote make sure that your 4 AAA batteries are good/charged so as not to confuse the remote's battery level warning w/ that of an engine reading.

Well I am using a old TIU with WIU, but they have all the latest software upgrades. This particular Proto 3 engine is the only engine it’s ever done it with. All my other Proto 3’s have had the proper readings. As long as everything seems to function ok it’s not a big deal and it’s not a cause for concern to the TIU or WIU.
