Hi all,

Seeking your opinions and ideas, maybe even pics. I have a highly tempting 7" wide foundation shelf that runs almost all the way around my basement at 53" high, with the good possibility of running between rooms. Any bridge scene would need to be low relief, but the trackbed will of course be full width.

All experiences appreciated. Thanks!

If I understand the question there are no areas of the shelf below what is there. Are you planning single or double track. I do not have a picture of this but I saw a girder bridge that seemed to sit on the ground, at least now it does. It is in Buffalo NY along the Niagara River. At one time there was a road underneath it but when they ran the interstate along the river it looks like they filled in underneath it. It is funny to see a single track girder bridge sitting on ground...................Paul

Neat idea, thanks. Yes, that's correct. No open space below the track, and comfortable space for single track plus some low relief scenery. The pics show the raw shelf. I plan to have the bridge at about 30", maybe longer, beginning where you see the barrel gondola in the photo.

The 0-27 Polar Express pic is taken in the opposite direction, showing the same tunnel portal for reference.
