low voltage on var 2

It is doubtful that there is a fuse issue, as those are really either good or blown.  Have you measured the input and output with a meter?

Not a fuse, most likely one or more of the FET's that control the output voltage has failed.

I just switched to the next one down,,power ok,,,so its the output of the var2

Well, it's a repairable problem, some of the FET's in the center of the board just need replacement.

thanks I will switch it to var 1,maybe in the summer when traindom is slow will think bout a repair,,,since im not a tec person ,,what does fet's stand for?

wow,I just tried my var 1 and dead out,zero with the meter,,,18volts set from transformer,,guess its a bigger problem than I thought,,with the meter connected ,I toggled from var1 fixed on/off still zero,,oh my 

Did you do a reset of the TIU?  Do the fixed channels work with DCS locomotives?

I just reset the tiu and the remote,,,,was able to re add the dcs engines  and run ok ,tks terry

sadly no,,,,still  no voltage on the output of var 1 and 8v on var 2 ,,,,,,fixed both work fine

I suspect the FET's, odd that both would be zapped.  Did you have some sort of short or other misadventure?
