Hi everyone, I recently picked up an LW transformer and need to replace the whistle rectifier.  I am ordering a 10A10 silicone diode axial type.  Mostly using only postwar stuff, but understand the LW has a reversed U and A terminals.  There are two wires and the mounting bracket on the disc retifier.  For the diode what goes where and which direction should I install the diode leads for possible modern stuff?

On postwar transformers with single control U was supposed to go to the center rail. For multi control transformers U goes to the outer rail. I have no idea what the logic was behind this. LWs are one of my favorite transformers. They pack a bunch of power in a tiny package plus the variable throttle dial light is pretty cool. Its been a while but I have used small stud diodes on LWs. NTE5870 cathode to case (5871 anode to case) is 50Vmax 12amp. I used it on my work bench test track for quite a few years before I sold it to a friend who has used it for many years. My current test track has an LW with an original rectifier disc.
