Going through a box of old trains that I picked up awhile back I found a Lionel LW Transformer. Unfortunately the plug is cut off. Actually it looks as if it may have rotted. The transformer itself looks good.

Anyway, since I probably won't need it (I have two ZW's), I wonder if it is worth having it fixed before selling it, or just sell it as is?272120917149_1

Good question, I think it depends on what you have done.

I'd guess that replacing a cord and testing an LW transformer for basic operation is no more than a half hour job.

But a lot of people like to replace the whistle diode whether it is good or bad. Maybe there is some advantage when running Modern era stuff. If so, I am not familiar with the benefit. (would someone explain?)
I have serviced plenty of transformers and in my experience it is rare to have a bad rectifier disk. Dirty switch contacts are much more common.
