Can someone give me some info on Madison Tenders?  I just obtained a 1964 773 loco but instead of the 736 tender, the previous owner said what I was getting was a Madison tender.  I did look on line and got some information but thought someone on here could fill me in with more detail.  My tender looks very much like a 700e tender and says 700t on the frame.  Would they have used a leftover prewar tender and modified it for postwar?  The previous owner said the person he bought it from was the original owner and bought it at Madison and bought this tender instead of the 736.  Its a great tender and I am just looking for a little history behind it if possible.  Thanks

Bruce

@671/681 -

Madison Hardware sold separate tenders built from 700T parts and equipped with postwar drawbars to operate with 773 Hudsons. These were available from the 1950s through the early 1980s and were advertised regularly in the model railroading mags of the time. I myself bought one there in 1986 and used it for my 783 rebuild to a 700E level of detail -

Hudson Products also offered an almost identical separate sale scale 700 tender. I often wondered if they were from Madison overstock.

Cheers,

- Mike
