I bought a N.O.S Lionel magnetic crane reissue from a think 1997. I knew the belts would be stretched and the grease like hardened molasses, so I started to task of taking it apart today. I didn't have a lot of time so I was only planning on doing one side of the motors anyhow, but when I look at the underside, I found this weird shim or something like that. Never saw anything like that on other cranes I've worked on. Wondering if this was done for a reason from the factory? It's like a small tab of clear plastic. Look similar to when you buy a battery operated product and you have to pull the little plastic Tab out to activate the battery. Anyone know why this is there?
