After the Barbie debacle we have made some changes to colors and come up with a combination that we like. However, we're on the fence about the facia and corbel color. Which one would you vote for?

Definitely the darker (can't tell from the pics if that is black or a date brown). The blue is just too bright for me and looks out of place on a warehouse - more a color for a Victorian painted lady!!!
Look forward to seeing your products in person at York next week.
Paul-
I look forward to seeing you next week, also. I have another poll going on my social page. That vote is four gray to two blue so far. We also have a window and door set for the first floor that gives the building a storefront look. Perhaps the blue goes well with that scheme and the gray goes with the warehouse scheme. If I can pull it off, I'll make versions of both facia colors and the buyer can select at the time of purchase.
We use primarily Benjamin Moore paints. The gray for the facia is one tone darker than gray for the windows on the same chip.
The darker one for me.
I will also have a new item for shadowbox buyers- thin magnetic strip and complimenting metal strip. Each have peal and stick tape on the back for easy application. You put the metal strip on your layout and then place the shadowboxes on top. They stay upright, are secure short of a Level 5 earthquake and can be moved from one strip to another.
Doug,
I prefer a blue but NOT that fluorescent blue !
Colors for the korber and doors should be complementary.
i will see you Thursday and plan to buy.
Eliot
I am with the others the darker gray for sure, it looks much closer to reality than the bright blue.
Perhaps a steel blue or gun metal blue to meet half way.
Last interaction of color studies. A darker gray will be used for the fascia, and first floor windows and doors for the warehouse version. A lighter blue/gray will be used for the retail version. The windows and doors on the retail version are "streetscape" style versus "warehouse-like". There will be five or less of each version available at York......

Doug;
Will you have any of your other built up shadow boxes for sale at York???
Paul-
I will have a number of the 3- and 4-story shadowboxes, available initially in 1-, 2- and 3- piece sets.
WH-1 is modeleled after a Union Pacific trackside warehouse that was 2-stories, the first with a loading dock. There may be a couple of this original shadowbox available as single-piece sets. I also will have WH-1 available in 3- and 4-story sets, with and without the loading dock. Brick color and window styles & colors are varied between the different versions.
WH-2 is modeled after a concrete warehouse. They are all the same textured concrete color. This time there is a twist. We have produced alternate window styles that take the standard 4 over 4 window framing and fill 1, 2 or 3 of the courses with either brick or concrete block. You will also be able to choose between clear and translucent glazing. I will be able to customize your model with a variation of these window styles while you shop elsewhere.
All WH-1 and WH-2 shadowboxes can also have building names applied- as you shop elsewhere. Please plan to allow me several hours to complete the customizing as 1. It takes a little time and 2. I hope there are interruptions!
There will be 1" wide magnetic and metal strip available. This is a great product to hold the shadowboxes in place while allowing the flexibility of moving them around from place to place on your layout. It is low profile, about .045" in total. You apply the metal strip to the layout and magnetic strip to the bottom of the shadowbox.
I will also have an array of laser cut window kits, letters fonts and sizes and bench kits. Random items will include smaller- scale brass etched fencing, Nichiban masking tape and Excel Hobby Blades knife kits.

That sounds great Doug. I'll have to be sure to make you my first stop on Thursday. I have a perfect open spot of a WH-1D-2 and a 1E-1... probably won't have time for customized signage though due to two wonky knees - can't stay on my feet too long these days!!!
Thanks.
All set up at York! Come on by in the Orange Hall and check out the new shadowboxes and parts selection. And I have the only, one of a kind, never to be made again, Barbie Warehouse!
Four versions of the Manufacturing Warehouse MWH-1 are finally added individually in the website store. You can choose between a blue and gray cornice, and complimenting 1st floor warehouse- or streetscape-style door and treatments. And, yes, the infamous Barbie Version is in the store, yearning for a special place on your layout! I'll be adding the other two remaining models from the first run tomorrow. Only a total of 11 "Sets" were produced in the first run.
Nice flats but I would have put more emphasis on the loading dock areas to make it more adaptable to R.R. Industry. I would have changed and raised the bay doors to freight car door height and added a bottom base. O scalers really need more of these types of buildings. Looks like these could be modified by the consumer if desired?
Steve,
Doug made a wonderful factory for me providing exactly the type of suggestions you made.
SIRT-
Thanks for participating in the post. I am very interested in getting feedback on all of our shadowbox model work. Please check the "Shop" pulldown menu in the website to see the current offerings.
We began our trackside warehouses with a shadowbox of a 2-story Union Pacific trackside warehouse with loading dock straight off a lift from a black and white photograph. It was designed with the loading dock at a height to match Atlas O track on a cork roadbed. Since then, it has grown to 3- and 4- stories after suggestions at my first visit to York display 2 years ago and now to 5- stories at the gentle prodding of one Scrapiron. It also comes in just a warehouse window version for those who want the building only as a backdrop. To add variety in building naming, we created a parts method to produce billboard-style rooftop signs. Please check my previous posts on that evolution. We are looking to offer kits for 5/8", 3/4" and 1" tall lettered billboard-style rooftop signs in the near future.
The manufacturing warehouse MWH-1 of this topic also evolved over time. It is a model that includes well over 150 pieces. It was developed from a lift from another model railroad social blog, and I learned afterwards that the artwork is actually a composition of two existing buildings. We liked it and decided to model it. Its evolution was also chronicled here on the Forum, including the infamous "Barbie" incident. The first level could easily be modified to represent a loading activity, complete with platform. If you have a photograph of such an elevation that would blend well with the upper stories of the building, please share it with me.
We will continue to develop models that we hope will sell, as that is what will allow us to continue to grow the product line. Our coming releases will include historical streetscape buildings from Kansas City, again at the prodding of one Scrapiron (HEY, KANSAS CITY- ANY HISTORIC BUILDINGS 6-10 STORIES TALL THAT YOU WANT IN FLAT, SHADOWBOX OR 6" DEEP FORMAT?), Series 2 of our 6-building streetscape buildings and another trackside warehouse complex, this time from Binghamton, NY.
We are also heading, albeit slowly, in the direction of offering shadowbox kits. Look for us participating in the Hennings Trains/OGR Facebook social media kit-building program in the near future.
I vote blue but a darker shade. Think C&O blue.
