There must be a million of those later Marx transformers still out there, that were usually included in sets.  They have a

metal teardrop shaped "knob" on the top, that in most I have fooled with, seem to be hard to turn.  The older vertical

ones with the red lever on the side do not seem to have this problem.  Many of the horizontal ones seem to need a lock wrench on the knob to start a train.  Since these have 110/120 going into them, I am not trying squirting 3-in-1 oil or

whatever on them, which might be conductive.  What is the problem and how can it be fixed?  Maybe using graphite or

some such...pop the knob off, and reset it...or ??

Hello My friends, Did you know Marx Trains made 18 deferent train transformers for there trains. The biggest was #1859 at was 150 watt transformer for 2 trains running, Most there transformers 75 watt to 50 watt transformers for one train. The smallest was #309- 25 watt one train. Marx did make large watt transformers like Lionel ZW, Z, LW, KW transformer ZW were 275 watt of power. Thanks longbow57ca.
