What do you use, or if there is a special tool, what is the source of a tool or tools that will pull driver wheels off the axles of Marx, and press them back on, while leaving the rods in place undamaged? I had a wheel puller from somebody, but it broke,,,think it was from one of the scale brass parts companies, maybe.

Hobby Horse makes a few wheel cups for Marx, and a tool set for clinching Marx truck eyelets.

Grossman sells a modified battery terminal puller, p/n 185, that works with smaller drivers, like Marx, Flyer & Lionel O. He also sells a hollowed out wood block, p/n 376, that a Marx motor will set in and you then use a drift punch to drive the axles out.

If money isn't a problem look at wheel puller number one @

Very cool
Wow...BDOBSON, all those specialty tools are available...and for Flyer...I thought tinplate was dying, but there is a market for all of that! I've never seen (noticed) those at York, and I saved that info. I actually got the job done earlier tonight (last night I was having no luck) with a wood block, a couple of large screwdrivers, a flat table top vise, an odd size drill bit, and a hammer (all here and paid for). Loco is together and running well. It had a mint shell but the rod nub was broken off one driver, and rear truck was missing ( taken from a junkbox shell). I replaced the driver and its attached rod, lubed it carefully, put in a working bulb, and grabbed it before it raced off the test track. Reverse works well, too, so it was worth the effort, to put it back in the set.
