folks

greetings. a new season and i started up the lionchief polar express, with too little fixed voltage. Surprisingly 7.5V was enough to get it running. it was enough to melt the component hanging off the motor. I'm guessing its a cap? it is the component both motor wires seem to pass through, very close to the motor.

Does anyone have the name, rating and orientation tips for the component?

Thanks

Thanks. I don't have the original packaging, but it is the lionChief loco, from a few years back. I am looking for a this weekend fix as the Nieces and Nephews are in for thanksgiving. I don't see a part number more specific than the motor, with leads. I can order that, but am wondering if I can be up and running today.

I don't see no reason why you can just short them out , but as I said it might cause a signal issue as they are used to block noise on the signal line from interference!

ok
