Thanks to Menard's for finally doing something for us "Out of Area" folks.  So, I purchased the Gamer and Thrones Building and got the mis-applied decal Pickup Truck.  I now want to place the structure on my layout.  I want it to span across a spur track.  I looked to figure out how to remove the doors to allow this to happen and did not readily see a process to remove the doors.  Before I hack away at the structure, I was wondering if someone on the forum has already done this procedure in a more eloquent way to not abuse the structure.  Any insights would be appreciated.

PS: Yesterday I again reviewed the structures available with the free Pickup Truck and it appeared that more structures were added to the list.  So, I have now ordered the Sprecher's Brewery and Shepherd's Factory and each with the accompanying Pickup Truck.  Thanks again Menard's!

Loose-Caboose,

The tunnel inserts are made to fit very snugly. I suggest prying with a flathead screwdriver on the underside of the tunnel, so you don't scuff the building.

I hope this helps!

Thank-you for your response, Mark.  So I don't sound too negative, I have a number of your buildings on my layout.  It has been a while since placing Vetter's or the Power and Light Buildings.  I seem to recollect that it was somewhat easier to remove the inserts in one or both of these buildings.  I seem to remember removing a series of screws.  Then again maybe that was for the removal of the base to lay the track into the portal.

Using a flathead screwdriver was/is what I considered my "Hack".  It appears that the Doors have a piece of "Moulding" that would prevent the doors from being pried outward.  It seems that the doors need to be "Pushed" in to prevent damage to the "Moulding".  Tomorow I will look at the building again to see if I can determine a more "eloquent" process.  Come Friday FedEx says I will have a couple more of your building to fuss with.  The fun just does not stop and again thank-you for giving us "Out of Area" guys a reason to invest our money in your "Train Stuff".

I continued my investigation this morning and this is what I discovered.  I pushed gently at the top of one of the doors just as a test.   It deflected in about a quarter of an inch.  At the same time, I noticed that the base deflected out in the center.  I then grabbed both doors with my fore fingers and wedged my thumbs against the base of the building (not the portal).  And as a unit the doors and base slid out from the portal area.   Situation solved, no boxcutter needed.  That is apparently the "Elegant" way.
