On my layout I have 4 Menards buildings . The firehouse , larger train station, the barn and then my latest the Multi sign purpose buildiing. For some reason they seem to copy Woodland Scenics sucessfuly and then throw around 100 LED lights on it. I'm trying to tone down my last purchase as putting street lights anywhere near it is a waste of time. I bought an extension cord with an advertised LED dimming switch on it but with that the lights are all on or off. Most times I just leave it unplugged. Anyone else tackled this problem?

Do searches for dimming menards buildings. They run on 5 vdc. They will light ar about 3.4 and get brighter as you increase voltage. The red owl is a very bright one.
You could paint some of the leds with a translucent amber paint to dull them
Buy a DC-DC Buck Converter, cut the power cord from the AC wall wart that's going to the building, splice in the buck converter keeping your polarity correct, and adjust the buck converter to dim the brightness of the lights.
