Best way for me to enter my layout, I would like to thank Mianne Benchwork for the great idea but believe me it was not an easy task

I used a ATV wench with a wireless remote which I used a 12volt battery to power till a get a ac converter, bicycle lift kit for pulley system, Heavy duty draw slides from Home Depot which gives me a hight of 64in so no more duct under!!

Motor is a bit over kill but for $50 at Harbor Freight I couldn't pass, little loud and a bit slow but works good, I will boxing in motor to help quiet. Overall very happy with finished product

Check out Pics I will add a Video too

Nice job on the lift bridge! I wish I had used the bike lift as you did.

Here's my version I built for a friend using some of the Mianne system ideas (Heavy Duty Drawer Slides). I managed to get a clearance of 71" below the bridge deck. At rest the bridge deck is 49" off the floor and the lift adds another 22" rise.

What you see the bridge rising out of is a temporary work table. I had the bridge rise out of it so I could have a place for work tools. The bridge is part of 2 layout loops that are 10" above the basic layout tabletop.

The bridge is 38" end to end, 12 inches wide, handles 2 "S" gauge trains and spans a 32.5" layout gap when installed.

I didn't use a winch but rather a dismembered 12VDC cordless drill, 3/8 threaded rod, counterweights, and some specialty threaded fittings.

All in all was a fun project to think through.

Mark

Post edit...the sound and the video are out of sync as the sound stops before the video ends. I don't know how to fix it and my ancient 5 megapixel steam-driven camera is all I had to use. Maybe I can make a new one out of left over bridge parts!
