Went browsing at the flea market this morning and found a nice military set. There was not a train in this set, but the many parts are in good shape and the HQ building is very good and all the vehicles and perssonal were like wise. With a price of $140.00, would that be a fair price?

since this is tinplate, could i take a guess that it's Marx? value of the pieces would definitely be based on quality and quantity. pictures?

Thanx Al! It was a fun layout.
My brothers and I had quite a few of the Marx sets as kids (this military one, Roy Rogers ranch, Revolutionary War, Medieval Village, Fort Apache), back in the 50's. Great memories. There were some Chinese-made reproductions done more recently.
The lithography on the metal buildings is really quite amazing, drawn to give a 3-D images. This wonderful art work and paint process used by Marx has been commented on over the years; it's enjoyable just to look at it.
