I've had a couple of folks ask for some pictures of the Beer Line and I have attached some photos that will give everyone an idea of what it looks like. To begin, the layout is 8 feet by 23 feet although that is misleading. It is really 8x16 with a 9x3 leg. The track plan is based upon the article, "Milwaukee Road Beer Line" published in Kalmbach's, More Railroads you can Model. It's a clever plan because the lower level will allow train running while the upper level permits lots of switching action. I patterned the upper level track plan upon the suggestions for modeling a brewery complex in Jeff Wilson's, The Model Railroader's Guide to Industries along the Tracks, Vol. 2. The 9x3 leg allowed me to put in a river, use two bridges, and incorporate a small yard. All track is Gargraves and the switches are mostly Ross with a few Gargraves mixed in. Mainline curves are 0-72 with those in the brewery no more than 042. The layout is wired, but I may redo my control panels. I have both Legacy and DCS, but since all but one of my engines is Lionel, I use mostly Legacy.

I am attaching a few (crummy) photos that will - I hope - illustrate the track plan.

Harrumph!

Seriously, thanks for the compliment. The brewery complex will be a challenge. I will add some Schlitz grain elevators, the powerhouse, scale track, and icing platform, but the bottling plant and the brew house are ... um ... known unknowns. The first thing to tackle will be the backdrop. I will need to play around with forced perspective, backdrop buildings, or maybe even just plain landscape.

Here are a couple more pictures that show the lower level a little better.
