Eventually I'd like to purchase either a Weaver or an MTH scale EP-4 in Milwaukee Road livery for my layout. Since I have 054 curves, I realize I'll probably have to park my Little Joe on a siding, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any success running one of these engines on tighter than 072 curves.

I do not have a Little Joe but it is much like the Chessie Turbine I am sure. The issue become overhang. It may run on a tighter radius but you will need 7-8 inches on each side of the track....and no running on double track for sure. My C&O Turbine and Big Boy still overhang a good deal on my O-81 curves.
Thanks, Dave. This is good to know.
All those wheels will cause you a problem on that tight radius. Youre not going to have much luck running that on O-54 and the MTH website indicates that the minimum is O72

If you chose the Weaver one, have the control system guts replaced. The stock Weaver setup sucks. Cruise Control burned out after a couple of days. Doesn't run smoothly when responding to commands. Nice model with crappy electronics.

I did not find that to be true.
I have three MTH Milwaukee Road Joes. They are big, really big. I run mine on at least 072 track and there is still some overhang. These motors are long and heavy but beautiful. It's possible they could make it around a 054 curve but watch anything close to the track and run them slow at first. Don
