My legacy ten wheeler has all the suddend started missing one chuff per rev. It chuffs, chuffs, chuffs, silent, then chuffs. Any idea?

Yep, I have the NYC version, started to skip a beat here and there. It was the cherry switch, for some reason they have been known to go in these. I called Lionel, received an RA no. and it was fixed and returned in 2 weeks!
I contemplated about doing it myself but it had a bum smoke regulator board in it too when I got it. They replaced both at no charge.
Thanks J_Daddy
Guess it will have to go to Wild Bills for Elmer to look at it, since it is purchased 2nd hand and no warranty.
Easy job. Bend the arm down a bit and you will be ok. Remember, TMCC gets the chuff when the switch closes and Legacy when it opens. Same switch.

Ok. Where is the Arm located?

Hi Jim,
Here's some photo's of the cherry switch, I'm pointing to the arm with the pencil.
That's all you have to do is bend the arm like Marty said.

Jim number 12 is the cherry switch, they put these cherry switches in different locations, but this one seems to be towards the back of the engine. It will be under the motor. You will have to take the motor out to get to the switch.

Thanks Alex
I will try to repair it tomorrow!
It will be mounted to a metal bracket that will unscrew with one screw and you can pull it out enough to work on.
Should I consider replacing the cherry switch since it seems to be an issue with these ten wheelers or leave it as is now that it is chuffing correctly?
Many times the chuff switch just needs an adjustment. I find no reason to replace them if they're working properly after an adjustment. YMMV
John is right. If it works now, leave it. It never does hurt to have a spare on hand. They are dirt cheap and the same part for TMCC and Legacy.
Thanks guys
Next time I put in a part order with Lionel I will order a spare or two.
