You guys have been very kind explaining stuff to me.  I'd like to share something, in case you were unaware of it.  I haven't seen it posted elsewhere.

Dave Detert, a couple of months ago, was nice enough to draw up some layout plans for me.  The track plan included 4 switches.  I opted for manual switches which turned out to be a mistake, so I subsequently ordered the DZ1000s for two which were out of reach. 

I ended up ordering 4 ROSS powered switches that were VERY expensive.  The other day, before the switches arrived, I had a thought enabling me to utilize the GarGrave switches......

....I removed the throw-bar from the switches, making them "run through" switches.  Not a TRUE run-through switch, mind you.  The switch points on a  true run-through switch will snap back once the rolling stock passes over them.  In my case, this wasn't necessary, because I'm only running one train on this layout.  I'm happy to report that the ROSS switches are going back!
