I model the steam to diesel period, about 1950. I also have a version of a downtown, but not a small town downtown. I need a tall (6+ story) building having dimensions about the same as the Menard's Headquarters Building - but it looks like a building out of the 1980's, not 1940's. As well it has lighted signs that include Starbucks, founded waaaay later than the 1950's.
Can anybody offer ways I might change the appearance of this building w/o totally deconstructing it??

IDK, First I think you need to find a photo of your "1950's building" look. once you have found your building/look then you could attempt to backdate the menards structure.[and it will be tough] Maybe an old art deco style might be in order since those structures were semi modern.
You might want to look at some of MTH 6-story buildings. I think they have a brick structure you could weather easily.
