Do you have the blues on Monday morrning?

If so, consider doing what I did, which is to  lean into it, run one of your favorite trains and play the blues.

Here's a blue train and BB King singing the blues:

If you are so inclined, please share what you do as a model railroader when you have the blues to cheer you up.

I pick up my Strat and do me some blues, like this one, which fits me like a shiny suit:

This Sportin' Life

Well, I'm tired of runnin' around
Well, I wanna marry and, and settle down
This ole sportin' life
It is a mean life and it's killin' me

I got a letter, got a letter from my home
All of my friends are, they are dead and gone
It'll make you worry
It'll make you wonder about days to come

My mother she used to talk to me
Young and foolish and I could not see
I have no mother
My sisters and brothers won't talk to me

She used to fall on her knees and pray
These are the words, mother, she used to say
She would say, Brownie
Oh, Brownie, please change your ways

Now, I'm goin' to change my ways
I'm gettin' older each and every day
When I was young and foolish
I was easy, easy let astray

I've been gambler and a cheater too
But now its come my time to lose
This ole sportin' life
Has got the best hand, what can I do?

There ain't but one thing that I think that I done wrong
I liv'd that sportin' life, my friend, most too long
I said, it's no good
Please believe me, please leave it alone

Then, like a miracle, I don't have the blues anymore.

NO blues here and I am undergoing my dialysis treatment as I type this! Ran my two standard gauge sets yesterday on their separate loops (Fireball Express and state set pulled by 408E). Also, my LGB Alpine Classic Set with an added dining car. Lately, into original Fats Waller recordings - he was a great piano jazz stylist! His music has a lot of energy, and it perks me up as it were! LOL!

Very good blues lyrics!

If you're at home, and able to run trains,  what could you possibly be blue about??

Not being home and not running trains all the time, for one. I'm not retired yet.

I was a little bit blue last night because that is when I thought of this topic and yet I couldn't post it on this Forum due to not having WiFi because of the Nor'easter.

I agree that running trains and playing a CD of great blues music is a great cure for the blues.

You might have an epiphany if you play a CD of Fats Waller jazz while running your trains.

Thank you so much, Patrick. I love this Forum and the people in it. This is a totally new experience for me because I never had any connection to any on line forum before this one.

I am so grateful to our publisher and fellow Forum member, Alan Arnold, for recommending this Forum to me.

This is a short video of a coal drag headed up by an MTH Proto 1 Pennsy  K4. The music is from a CD I recently bought from a terrific used book, CD and record store called the Bruised Apple in Peekskill. NY. The CD is by Bill Evans (never heard of him) and the song is and  instrumental called Dakota:

I think music with a good driving beat is great to listen to  when running trains or riding in a train or car.

This time I used a tripod to shoot the video.

The Monday Morning Railroad Blues

My baby up and left me

It's sad their ain't no doubt

But sadder still she left me

With another fried turnout

I've got them Monday, them ol' Monday Morning Railroad Blues

My Z's just shooting sparks out

Like it's the 4th of July

So when the next train show hits town

It's buy, buy, buy, buy, buy!

My water tank is leaking

The mess it never ends

And the only thing to clean it up

Is this unmarked box of depends

I've got them Monday, them ol' Monday Morning Railroad Blues
