This arrived today a nearly new 1950-60's battery mono rail , roughly O scale.
The pictures show it on the dining table with some of the 1/43 cars that also arrived today.
It runs on 2 "C" batteries but the modern ones are too fat! any ideas please.
Love the art work on the box also.

Very nice! Who is the maker? I can't read the box (which has nice artwork, also.) Don't know what to do about the batteries...I would have thought that a C was a C.
Perhaps a battery specialty store, such as Batteries Plus, could assist? (Don't know if you have them in the UK.)
Not sure who made it but on the underside is Cosmo with the o in the centre of the C.
In the listing it just states "Lovely collectors set from 1950s- 60's made by Codeg Hong Kong"
Re the battery if I remember correctly the old C batteries had a cardboard surround & the new ones now have a thicker plastic wrapper to stop leakage.

That's really cool! As for batteries try dollar store brands....they seem smaller than average than the more high dollar versions.

Mono rail's are cool. The youngest has the Disney one. We left it at the house in the States so he has it to play with when we visit. It is also about O scale. Last trip he got the contemporary resort station for it. It's quiet big hence the reason we keep it over there.

Interesting find.
A double-A battery is the same length as a C battery. You might be able to use a pair of those, wrapping them in a little wadding to fill the space.
If you don't get to the train show early they stick you in the back with the mono rail freaks !
