Hi Rick......If at all possible I would not attach to wall. All the ones on my layout lift off, at most I used dap hot glue. never know when you have to get in there,

No, I have not, not at any point, and there are several places where the "mountain range" comes up against the cinderblock walls against which I have included large panels of "sky." Frankly, attaching the mountains to my walls never occurred to me. Perhaps that is because they are constructed of 2x4s and 3/4" plywood as their bases and level tops. The rockface and stone retaining-walls define each level as fascia, a kind of outside face.

I wouldn't recommend attaching to any wall. My shallow relief mountains attach to 1/4 inch luan plywood which I cut to create the horizon profile of the mountain/hill top... The bottom of this plywood is attached like fascia, but to the "back" of the layout frame...
Plus, after I built them that way, I found those 600 LED strings of lights (1/2 inch wide) and decided to mount them between the 1/4 inch plywood and the blue sky backdrops that are 1/8 inch masonite.... Creates a really cool glow in the sky that looks just like dusk...

I can't think of any situation where there would be a reason to attach a mountain to a wall. In any event, you always want a visual gap between your land and your sky, so as not to destroy the illusion of distance.
thank you all for the good advice
