Everything operates correctly on this engine using dcs remote but no sound. Tested speaker with battery. Did factory reset with remote no change. I saw somewhere that a fellow member GGG could repair this just need to get in touch.

I have the same issue with with a GP-38 proto2. I bought it second hand cleaned it up and replaced the battery with an engerizer 8.4v rechargeable. It ran great and then the sound stopped working.
I checked the speaker with my meter and its at 16 ohms. I did like you did and first tried doing a feature reset a few times. That didn’t work so I did a factory reset with my dcs remote. And nothing. It will run just fine. Couples fire, lights work smoke unit works. Just no sound. I’m wondering if the speaker amp is fried.
Could be, if you're sure the speaker connections all the way back to the board from the speaker. Also, make sure that the speaker leads do not have any continuity to frame ground. Those amps can be replaced.
I sent mine to GGG. Highly recommend because he was quick and reasonable. Turns out my speaker was bad even though I tested with battery.
I guess I’ll order a speaker and see what happens.
I replaced the speaker before I had to go into work. It didn’t work so I’ll have to mess with it more later.
