Purchased this MTH Auto Carrier 30-76069 with New York State Police Cars. I cant determine if this was a special limited run for maybe an auto dealership or did someone customized it? Box say New York Central but as you can see there is an Eire marking on it and it says Hamilton Brothers Ford. The marking looks like vinyl and are precisely cut on both sides. Does anyone know something about this. Either way I am glad I bought it as it is not common to find on these MTH police car auto carriers. Any one have a Conrail MTH 4 car carrier 30-76094 to sell . It was produced without any cars, just the carrier. Also interested in other hard to find MTH 4 car auto carriers if you have any to sell.

I think it is a stock MTH item. It is customary for a dealer ship to obtain a fleet order for state police vehicles, along with city, town, fleets for public works trucks, and other fleet vehicles one can think of . There dealership logo would appear but not on the auto carrier itself. The vehicles would be picked up at the manufactures plant. I never heard of any dealership regardless of how large having their own auto carriers...
The only exception I can think of is if the dealership contracted a carrier company exclusively and required the carrier company to have the dealership name on the carrier...
Thanks for your thoughts. Maybe a dealership had a fleet contract for cars and had MTH produce these as an advertising item. The Erie Logo and name on the car might be a clue as to where this dealership is located. Given there are New York State Police Cars on it I am assuming it might be in New York. I agree it apears this may have been produced by MTH rather an individaul creating it. There is no listing for this as a 4 car carrier. The stock number says its New York Central. Maybe some other member(s) have one of these which would indicate it was produced in some quantity.
And Merchant’s Despatch Transportation Company (MDT) was partially owned by the New York Central…
It was customized, I just looked up the product number on MTH website, 30-76069 where the Hamilton Ford logo is on your car, the NYC logo was on the original, and where ERIE is on your car NYC is on the original.

Wb1, where did you buy this car?
It was listed on ebay. Been trying to find all of the 4 car Auto Carriers with state police cars. It looks like MTH made them for the New York, Maryland and Pennsylavania with State Police Cars. The railroad name on these carriers were New York Central, Baltimore and Ohio, and Pennsylavania which makes sense. The one I pictured sort of confused me and then I thought maybe it was a special car for a dealership. But it just could have been customized by whoever owned it.

Yes I had previously looked up the item on the MTH web site as well. I actually have that car with the New York Central and NYC on the carrier. This one sure could be customized with a sticker put over the the lettering. What is interesting, the stickers on it are very well done and dont look hand cut and it make me wonder? In any event I am glad I got it as this one as they are not easy to find. Some other car carriers with various road names I have been looking for for several years. I could peel off the logo but what if it was some kind of special run. Maybe others have some thoughts. It would be interesting if someone else had one like this.
I saw the car you bought on e-bay. It came up on my search, but every other search brought up the car that I pictured. I bet it was a promotional or special run for the dealer, or maybe someone did it for that dealer cause they worked there or whatever. Either way I would just leave it alone and consider it a very well done one-off.

I totally agree with you take on what this might be. It will stay as it is, whatever it is!! Thanks for the feedback.
