MTH Building Bases

I have decided to use mainly MTH buildings for a 3 block 1 street section on the layout. But I don't like the look of the bases. I would like to use the corner and opposite corners with 2 or 3 buildings between. I want to make each block a "section". Has anyone done something like this. Has anyone removed the bases and mounted them on a product to make the sidewalks look uniform?

Yes, I take all of my bases off and use bases made from luan and plaster. I believe on the corner and opposite corner buildings there are two tabs that will need to be cut off.
