It usually boils down to one of two things: either the LED strand is damaged or the regulator board is no longer delivering appropriate power. To check the board, you can probe the output voltage and see if any component heats up excessively.

Also, check the wires under the crate

This happened to me with the Santa and Rudolph car. In my case it was just a loose connection. I unscrewed the bottom to reveal the internal wiring (which looked pretty sloppy on this car). I retwisted a few wire connections. It fixed the problem.

So…put car in test track-this is the second time.
the first time, a few days ago, it lit for a second then died.
I did open the box, checked for loose wiring or connections

I found none

So, I was getting ready to put another Christmas tree car on the track to compare voltage outputs on the circuit..

now it works
