MTH's semi-official spokesman [ that's my term ] announced today on a French forum that MTH is planning on doing an SNCF X3800 diesel railcar, generally referred to a Picasso [ the 'one-eye' connotation from the 'half' elevated driving cab ]. It will either proceed or follow the other new French motive power in the works, the 241P postwar Mountain; it is my understanding that production of these items is dependent on the 141P's sales.
I find this choice of model to be truly amazing, given the small size of the French market; I would have thought that for the equivalent amount of tooling a diesel such as a French BB63000 or a BB66000 [ especially ] road switcher would have had much wider appeal. But perhaps the French are just easier to get along with for Mike than those picky Germans.....
Best regards,
SZ
