I recently purchased a Hot Metal car with the "flickering motten" feature. It doesn't work. I've checked all the connections, the other lighted cars on the track work fine.
I am inquiring to see if anyone else has had a similar issue with these cars or may know where to get the replacement "bulbs". It is a plug in light set, marked MT-132 on the small circuit board.

No doubt by now you have replaced the bulb, put up with it not working or sold the car.
I have recently won a Lionel hot metal car at auction and it works fine. This is the only Lionel HMC I have and the only one with the flickering load. I'd like to pull it apart and see how the molten load fits in and is made, so I can make some more for all of my MTH hot metal cars. I cannot get the **** car apart! I can remove the ends but can't get the barrel apart... what is the trick?
