The sounds and everything work just fine in conventional, but cannot be picked up through my MTH DCS Explorer Wi-Fi. Any idea why? The guy I bought it from said it worked just fine. Does it need new batteries? It currently has some sort of blue Ni-can battery which looks like two AA batteries stuck together.

Should I just replace the board with a newer model?

I am using a MTH Z-1000 to power my layout.

The battery could already have been changed.  Since this works in conventional, and has long shutdown sound, the issue is not the battery.  I guess explorer doesn't have that.  If you can take it to some place with TIU, try recover engine.   Is the explorer limited on ID #, I assume it is since not full system.  G

The Explorer can only run three trains at once I think, but I don't know if it uses ID numbers because I've never seen them.

taking it somewhere that has a TIU seems like a good idea, so thanks for that!
