I just bought a new in the box operating house on fire and wired it, filled it with water and smoke following the instructions. There isn't enough pressure for the water to make it to the house.

Do any of you have tips, suggestions or have run across this before and have a fix? I'm continuing to check the water level, etc to no avail.

Thank you, Terry

I haven't fooled with mine in years. But it had little pressure when first rigged to route the water from under the house to the hydrant, through the midship pumper then up the ladder with the Fireman through the hose and window back to the tank. The house is stored now but on a previous layout I stopped pumping water because it was messy.

Anyway the diameter of my hoses is too large to build much pressure---smaller closer to scale hoses are available from Pet Smart acquarium stuff.

You need to try much smaller hoses.  Some model stores also carry tiny hoses, too. They will result in a bit more pressure.

I would love to have this on my layout, I think it is one of the best accessories out there, but a lot of fun.  But I am abit nervous about have real water near it.

Try the smaller hoses - it will look more realistic, too.  Good luck with it!

Trico washer hoses along with several available at acquaruim stores will be more prototypical--close to 2-1/2 to 3" attack lines. In a setup like mine if you gradually reduce hose size enroute to the nozzle on the attack hose it will as Lee says build presssure [and as Firemen know increases friction loss and reduces volume].

If I were to go wet again I would downsize the supply line from hydrant to pumper and again from pumper to attack line/nozzle. I drilled out the intake and output ports on the pumper, connected via a trico inline adapter inside the body.
