I have a loop of track around my tree and I added an operating track section for the musical Christmas car. I am using a Z 50 to provide power for the loop connected to the non handheld DCS commander. The problem is that every time I try to use the unloading feature the circuit blows. Any help would be great.

Does the car have an operating coupler? I have a barrel loader operating car That I just repaired that lost a spring, and the pin for the coupler would drop down on the center rail and cause the short.
The Z500 is too small for the load. Even a CW80 with 60% more power struggles with those track sections. The magnets on those tracks are nominally 5-7 ohms.
If it shorts out with no car on the track, then the coil magnet is bad.
check the resistance on the uncoupling coil with a ohm meter.
Do you mean a MTH Z-500 ?
It should be good for up to 5 amps if working OK
Uncoupling is working and just the unloading blows the fuse. I bought the brick from someone in form who said it was a Z500 but it is a Z50. The used to make those.
I will connect my Z1000 and see what happens.

3 amps / 54 watts.... and that's the output of the brick before it goes to the controller.
Thanks I will give it a try.
