Uncataloged Premier O Scale Long Island 50' PS-1 Box Cars Announced
March 23, 2023 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has announced two exclusive Premier O Scale 50' PS-1 Box Cars in Long Island livery for exclusive distribution by M.T.H. Authorized Retailer Nassau Trains. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the cars are available in two unique car numbers and are expected to deliver in September 2023. They are only available directly from Nassau Hobbies. Item No. 20-99383 Long Island 50’ Ps-1 Box Car w/Youngstown Standard Door Item No. 20-99388 Long Island 50’ Ps-1 Box Car w/Youngstown Standard Door ABOUT THE PREMIER O SCALE 50’ PS-1 BOX CAR Pullman had been making freight cars for more than half a century when it hit a home run with the PS-1 box car. Introduced in 1947, it set the standard for post-WWII American freight cars. What made the PS-1 a landmark was its welded construction — an area in which Pullman-Standard led the industry. In addition to lighter weight, welding offered superior strength and better resistance to weather and corrosion than contemporary rived cars. Like the EMD diesels that became ubiquitous on American railroads, the PS-1 was part of the postwar shift away from customized, railroad-specific locos and cars toward standardized designs produced in large quantities on efficient assembly lines. Electric Trains will be releasing a slew of limited-edition Christmas releases beginning this Fall including an ES44 Diesel locomotive and matching caboose, Bump-n-Go Trolleys, Operating Hand Car, several complementing box cars, Gondolas with Lighted Snowmen, an ALL-NEW Flat Car with Lighted Christmas Trees that feature a Lighted Star, a Flat Car with a Lighted Nativity Scene and a lighted Country Passenger Station. Many of these offerings will be available in Christmas themes and in North Pole themes and all are a great way to add to your own holiday collection of past cars, sets, and buildings.
