They are probably talking about 72 feet which would be 1 to 1 or full scale for a standard Pullman.
This is another Ives transition car. It uses an American Flyer car body. It will run on 42 curves. Will it look good with your National Limited car? That is up to you.
The Nat'l Limited is 18" So, apparently the seller did not tell me how long the toy train car length is? Any one have this passenger set, and can tell me how long the car is please.
Here they are in different colors. An American Flyer president car. Ives car is this body about 18 or 19 inches long. It is different trucks and couplers. The Ives car in Cadet Blue is the same as your National Limited car. They both have different trucks and couplers than the Lionel 418 car but the same body.
MTH did make the Olympian paint scheme on the 418 frame. It would make a nice collection for you to have an example of each color car. Originally Ives made on the 418 body. Black Diamond,National Limited and a Green set. MTH made a few more colors. The problem with this is that MTH only sold them as 4 car sets no add on cars. Those prototype cars from Perrys Toy Exchange make great add on cars.
Got a second email, 72" is for the 4-car set! This single car is 18". jeesh...

I thought you were thinking O gauge because a 18" car in O gauge is 72 scale feet.
