I need to replace the RS-365SH motor in my MTH RTR Steamer.  I found a RS-356SH replacement motor online.  I have a good understanding on how to remove the worm gear from the old unit.  What is the best way to remove the flywheel/Calibration wheel.  Can a apply some heat to it to remove it?  I appreciate the help.

Thanks,

Mike

Where did you find a double shafted motor on line?  Also make sure you have the dimensions for reinstalling worm gear.  Also, make sure you have a plan on how to press gear and fw back on with out bending shaft, or pushing armature out of alignment with the new motor.

Lastly, the last 4 to 5 sequence numbers of the motor define it's operating characteristics.  The first series is just size and magnet and poles.  So not all RS-365SH motors will run the same.  Different voltages, different RPM and Torque characteristics.

You can actually still get motors for your engine.  Just need model number to match the correct motor with all the parts installed (gear, FW, Tach Bracket).  G

George,

Thanks for the reply.  The Model of the steam engine that I have is 30-4207-1E It's MTH's Christmas 4-6-0 with proto-sound 2.0.  The numbers on the motor are RS-365SH RD534223.  Is it best just to go to MTH directly for this.  I live about 10 minutes from their plant in Columbia, MD.  Do you know if they would sell that type of part to a consumer?

Thanks,

Mike
