Hello I have a PS2 GP40 number 20-2422-1 that has very distorted sounds. looking on the forum leads me to believe the speaker is failing. This is a 5 volt PS2 system that takes a 16 ohm speaker. MTH does not have a parts breakdown on this engine. Would anyone the correct p/n for this unit?

They are all going bad. The replacement is BF-0000033. I am sure someone who sells parts on the forum has them. If not, I am sitting on many. Please try a forum seller as your first choice. Doing repairs, I get to see many flaking speakers from the 5 volt system. While you are at it, dump the white battery if it still exists and replace with a new green 8.4 volt battery.

I replaced a failing MTH speaker years ago with a similar sized one scrounged from a Radio Shack sound effect kit. The latter sounded better than the OEM one it replaced and is still going strong.
What was the rating on the RS speaker?

If anyone finds a good source for the old MTH speakers; please post it. Like Marty; I'm replacing a bunch of them. I'm also replacing many Atlas speakers. China......The Land of Not Quite Right!

The PS2 5 volt board ran a 16 ohm 5 watt speaker. I've been using these from Parts Express. Great sound at a great price, .65 cents each for 10 or more.
I have some of those as well Dave, they work fine with the 5V PS/2 boards.
Hi, How about specs and MTH part number for an MTH RK2002 F3 A Deisel horn speaker? I believe it has no no Protosound. Thank you.
It should be listed on the speaker magnet. Normally PS-1 and horn whistle were 8 ohms. PS-2 5V are 16ohm and the PS-2 3V and PS-3 4 ohms. G
