I made my own terminal blocks so I could run my switches off aux power. I used two of the "neutral bars" like you would find in your home electric panel. (5$ for a 24 spot bar at Lowes) I plan to do the same with my track power. I am adding DCS shortly and all the wiring diagrams I've seen shows using the MTH blocks that look like they are on a circuit board.

Is there any specific reason that the MTH terminal blocks would be better? Do they have any resistors or any other type of added circuitry that smooths out the DCS signal, or cleans it up?

Hello Mo985, There is nothing special about the MTH terminal blocks. You can use the ones you made. I also make my own terminal blocks using Radio Shack's 8 bar terminal strips with their 8-bar jumper strips mounted on a 1x4 piece of wood. Works fine for DCS. I've made 15 of these terminal blocks for my layout.................rogerw.

I star wired my Standard Gauge layout with a 12 position MTH block. The layout has 3 loops each one on a different TIU channel. Each loop has 4 different connections to the block. I cut the metal strip on the block to create 3 separate blocks. Works perfect.

There is nothing special about the MTH terminal connector.
