Any suggestions on what else I can do to the building itself? I'm going to be working on the farm next.

John,
Did you make that base for the barn?
Ron
Ron, it’s an Ertl farm set. I painted the barn, as it was all white. The cows are very realistic (speaking as a dairy farmer), and the silo I found separately is also Ertl.
Thanks for sharing Guy. You packed a lot of stuff in a small area.
Very nice Ron, I considered the MTH barn for my small family farm / orchard but didn't have the space. I opted for the smaller Menards barn which is on my pop out. This is a work in progress so excuse the unfinished look as that's what it is. Slowly making progress.
Ertl farm set. Link to a Photobucket slideshow.
Ron, you really don't need to do much to the barn. Once you get farming stuff all around it, it will fit right in.
Gentlemen,
Real cool stuff, having grown up on my Grandfather Dairy Farm in Somerset County, Pa. I get a real charge out of the Dairy Barn, Station Milkers and Holstein Cows, great job!
Mike CT,
You need a Mail Pouch sign on that Fantastic Barn!

Great post, making me miss my youth on the family farm....
Ron, how did you create the Mail Pouch lettering on the barn roof?

Great question... I should have documented it.
I masked a rectangle with painters tape. Inside the rectangle I painted 3 stripes White, Yellow and White. Does not have to be neat.
Then I purchased some vinyl stick on letters from Michaels. Very cheap if you use their coupons. I purchased 4 packs of different letters for $7.
I stuck the letters on the white, yellow and white stripes. Then I masked the rest of the barn and sprayed the rectangle flat black. The next morning I removed all of the vinyl letters.
Lastly I used some chalks and some home made weathering dirty water paint to achieve the final look.
