Can anyone help with a Circuit diagram for a MTH z1000 controller? I have one that is putting out uncontrolled maximum power to the track. Any help appreciated.

If you have a 40-1000, here's a link to the manual. That might help.
If that's not what you have you should be able to look up your product number on the MTH website from the product locator and find the manual there.
Are you using the proper terminals for the output power? Red to the center rail and black to the outside rail/s. These should come off the unit that has the control handle on it.
The little set of screws, silver in color, are your auxiliary power output and stay set at 14 volts AC. The small set of screws are right at the power pack for the transformer.

I had a z500 that failed the same way. Something in the throttle/controller box that broke. Pretty sure it's the same unit that comes with the z1000. My solution was to just buy a new one.
I have the Z1000 too for my elevlated line and had to replace the control box went bad had the same problem , not repairable inside no user serviceable parts inside
there "throw away" controllers
I have actually repaired those, but the cost to have someone repair it normally makes it not economically feasible.
Out of the dozens we sell annually, we have only seen one controller issue and we successfully repaired it, but in the end it will cost about the same as getting a brand new 40-750C which is just the controller. Although for approx. $40.00 more you can get another 100W power supply too.
I have got a new controller thanks
There's so much useful information on this forum, even if it's just a confirmation of your suspicions... like this thread right here. Thanks guys. 👍
My collection of 3-rail throttles is simple - two train set CW-80s and two MTH Z-1000s. With barely any use, I've seen one of the CW-80s give up the ghost, and now one of the Z-1000 control boxes went to 19 volts output, period.
Makes you want to go all DC, I tell ya...
While we are on the topic of the Z-1000 controller, is the Z-750 controller an exact replacement for the Z-1000 when used with the 100 Watt brick? In other words, is the Z-750 compatible with the 100 Watt brick?
Yep, it plugs right in and I haven't seen any issues in the several years I've had that combo on my bench.
I found a source on that auction site for replacement Z-1000 control boxes. Of course it's a major PITA having a functioning brick and dead throttle, but the replacement price will run me about the same as a complete Z-1000 it appears. I'm in the mood to shop around for better replacements to ease my CW-80/Z-1000 disappointment. Recommendations appreciated. MRC maybe?
