Let me explain a little here, I'm heading back to all pre-war standard and O gauge.  I currently have a ton of modern stuff that I would like to be able to run when I want, however my layout will be centered on all pre-war.  For the MTH engines I have, I want to continue to run them using my Z1000's for safety reasons, however when I want to run the old stuff, I want to go back to my pre-war transformers.  I'm strictly conventional, no DCS or Legacy so having something like a TIU inline doesn't come into play.  What I need to figure out is how I can do this without having to disconnect/reconnect transfomers each time I get a wild hair.  I'm thinking there is some sort of switch I can use that I can feed both transformers to, and by means of a simply flick, transition from one transformer to the other without back-feeding the voltage to the other transformer.  Make sense?  Probably not.  I have the idea in my head, know what I want to do, but not sure how to get there.  Seems like a simply thing to me, then again, everything is simple until you actually get down to making it happen.  If anyone can assist, I'd appreciate the help.  I've been looking at some Atlas O switch panels that might work, but I really don't know.  Thanks.

A simple switch and two or more relays will do it.

Or, Google "commercial trailer connector" images and you will see plugs and sockets with multiple heavy-duty connections.  You can make two pigtails, one from each of your sources, and one receptical, for the layout. You can play train engineer, and swap out the multi-pin "MU" cables to select the source.

Or, try the military version:
