I mean with a name like that I have to be in! So I was invited to attend one of the open houses by the Anthracite Hi-Railers located near Moscow PA and bring along one of my trains! What a fantastic group of guys! Earl, John, Eric and the numerous “kids” were super friendly, in welcoming me to their group! Their modular layout is built with Gargraves track and Ross switches and runs Lionel (whatever the remote is called) MTH DCS and conventional. I brought along my Williams Conrail NW2 set and coal train, and it’s the first time it’s ran on something but tubular track! For 3 hours it went round and round without incident. Which is great because I didn’t want to clean up the real coal loads from a derailment hahaha! By the end of the night I decided I need to build a coal breaker module to add to their layout, especially with a name like Anthracite HiRailers, I mean they just need one man! Enjoy......

Chris,
Thanks for the great PR. WE will be open on New Year's Day and Sunday from 1-4 PM. We will be announcing more dates in January after this weekend. Go to our Facebook page, Anthracite Hi-Railers, for updates.
Wow ... seems like a great club. Your CR NW2 coal train is cool, too.
Excellent layout and great videos........modular clubs are a blast! A great way to meet others in the hobby and share it with the public!

Wow!!! Great Pics and video! Your CR NW2 sets are very nice! The the whole setup is really nice!
Here is a short clip of our layout that I call "Pocono Raceway" from a previous open house. It features two Weaver DL&W Poconos running side-by-side.

First time I’m posting anything but have been reading up on the forum for about a year now. Finally joined the forum on Wednesday and really wish I had sooner! Came across this post after being able to search on the site and I’m looking forward to checking out this layout today. I’m currently redoing my 8x8 L shaped layout that has 3 lines and 2 levels ( top corner is a winter/ Christmas village). Did my layout about 15 years ago and basically just threw it together. After getting lost in YouTube for several hours watching creative ways to do scenery, buildings, lighting, etc. and just simply seeing how amazing some layouts are and the INEXPENSIVE techniques that are out there, I’ve decided to redo my layout. Coming across a modular layout like this is perfect to see all the different ideas on each modular. Very nice trains you’ve brought along as well. I’ve only ever had Lionel postwar engine’s but looking to expand. Unfortunately, that portion of the hobby isn’t inexpensive.

Thanks for the welcome! There sure is some great advice on this forum!
What a cool modular set up! I spent over an hour and a half just taking in all the different details on all the different Modular’s. Must have circled the layout at-least 20 times haha. Very wide range in numerous scenery scenarios which is quite unique. Some extremely nice trains running too! 45 car train of nearly all containers, Awesome! Wish I got there earlier to chat but roads were snow covered. Definitely going to try to make it there again. Great job Anthracite Hi-Railers!
A few videos I took of the different trains running. Enjoy!

Hello again Earl. Figured I’d track down the videos I mentioned in another thread for you. Hopefully I’ll make it up again to see the modular. Seems every weekend we have horrible weather.
Great fun!
Peter
Great meeting you too Chris! Sure is fun seeing a train pulling a high number of cars, especially when there’s 3 of them running! As always I took in the scenery and noticed even more little details that make the scene pop. Thanks again to Eric for opening up for us.
