Its been a long time since updated pictures of the New Delta Lines layout were posted here. Thought that it was time to share some new photos with all. So here we take a look  at the latest view of the town of Douglaston. In this town everything is scratch built with the exception of the modified Lionel station, the water tower and some of the flats taken from online sources. The late great Frank Ellison created a layout called the Delta Lines back in the 1940's and 1950's. The layout was destroyed but it remained in many stories and articles that Mr Ellison wrote for Lionel's Model Builder magazine. It was with his inspiration that my layout called the New Deltas Lines was started 12 years ago. Its not as big as the original but incorporates some of its best ideas.

Note that this town is but one of the towns on the original Delta Lines. At this point the layout is 90% complete, (more weathering needs to be done, ballasting of track and a couple of structures added). It will be finally open to all visitors in Jan 2015 at an admission charge of only one handshake.

A salute to you Dennis for your efforts to keep alive Ellison's achievements.  I remember waiting for the next issue of Model Builder to get his articles.  On my layout presently I have the El Ropo Cigar building, and the mill, and several others built using Ellison's techniques.  If I had more room I'd have more.   I'll continue to follow your (and Fred Dole's) efforts to keep Ellison's heritage alive.

Thanks to all for the well wishes and complements. As I said before the layout is open for anyone and everyone here to visit starting this January. For the talented modelers and scenery buffs on this forum, I thought that I'd post another sneak peak on another section of the layout. Please excuse the poor painting of the river to the waterfall in the back of the trestle. I am not exactly Angela Trotta Thomas-LOL The river valley water realism is not 100% yet and the rocks need some improvement but we've come along way to this point.

Three levels of the layout run through this river gorge while the forth does not. Many of the materials to model this gorge were purchased from the best scenic supplier in the model train world-  Scenic Express.
