Thanks folks and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. As always, this type of video is more of a "look at" the technology and concept. I love neat stuff like this.

those DPDT toggles were something I hated having on the layout. If for nothing more than the ummm... look. But these things really make operating the layout a joy.

So come by the booth in York.

Rich/Allan - I like the idea of doing an article about this. I will get with Allan Miller about writing something up with some good pictures.

He said that's where the guy is from, but didn't clarify that's also the source of the controls.

Jiminy Crickets man, put 1 and 1 together.  Why would he tell you the web site name?  Did you even check it out prior to your post to see for yourself?

My first thought was either Joey was selling them at his web site or this other fella at berretthill was selling them.  Why else would they have done what they did?

I am not advertising and I am not selling these items, the video is " A LOOK AT" and titled as such. Even with that said, I did provide info in the video as to where you could look further if you are interested in learning more about the technology.

Also, yes, it is behind the glass as shown in the video. You'll notice a lot of glare on the glass.

Joey

So maybe I just got too used to how Eric does it.  He's not selling things but he is very clear on where he got things from so that you as a viewer don't have to make any assumptions.  And yes, I did watch the video before my comment, but no, it's not normal for me to make an assumption that just because you introduced your friend and his website that it's also the source of the flashy bits I'm now interested in.

Joey, I like your videos that I have seen, it's nothing against you, I'm just looking for clearer information.  Like, does this system with with Atlas switch machines?

Alan thanks, indeed I want to do an article about this, but I will need to tailor it to fit the OGR readers specifically - the video is a generalization to give the overall idea and concept. I just happen to have those particular machines under the turnouts.

I would need to do a little more research and possibly a photo demonstration with products that are specific to this readership if possible. If you or Rich could help, I am sure Kevin would be glad to participate and has indicated that he would help out. I know he will be or is working on the ability to utilize Ross product machines, but I need to know more. I need to be able to ask the right questions to apply it specifically to OGR  folks.

If Rich or Allan Miller could contact me that would help. I need a list of machines that may be of interest that I can discuss with Kevin.

Reply By Joey_Ricard: Neat stuff! Touch Controls for the layout! - VideoJoey another great video, and I passed it around to all of the AMRS Membership. It has drawn some interest amongst the membership. Keep up the good work, and expecially sharing your information.

Joey,

Great stuff, real nice job and very well done, for those runners still using wired switches, does you buddy Kevin Hunter have any magic he can add to FasTrack Command Control switches?  Does he have a wireless version that can show the switch locations, like he did for your wired switches, now that engineering I could really use.

As usual your video was fantastic, Lionel or MTH should make you part of their staff to do their educational videos!

Thanks for a great educational video!

Been wondering why this sort of control has not be more widely used.  Visited a 3 level multi-room HO just about 10 years ago that filled a basement and took 6-8 operators to make it function, but it was entirely touch screen contolled = touch screen monitors placed all around the layout to control everything with a rack of computers lined up hosting the entire system.  Makes one wonder why we are where we are running trains vs. where that techiology has gone over the past decade.

Joey, Awesome video! What a great concept! I like the humor in the video as well. I laughed even if Kevin didn't.

It was great to meet you at York. I really enjoyed seeing your layout in person. If I had known it was going to be there and that pictures were now allowed in the dealer halls I would have brought my camera with me to take pictures of your layout.

I was just wondering, and I realize that Kevin is the person to ask, but can the touch pads be used to turn power on and off to a track block? If yes, this opens up even more possibilities for this technology.

I have a question about the control base. When you touch green or touch red, is the output from the base continuously making contact, or is the contact momentary?

In the case of Fastrack, the switching contact is normally momentary. A continuous contact is ok for a Fastrack switch but I would prefer momentary contact.

In speaking with the developer/owner he was working on a version specifically for Fastrack and had a Prototype and would have additional information in a couple of months (1 month ago).
