I notice that some of you guys put extra fuses between the transformer and the track. I'm not familiar with this so is there a "sticky" on fusing? I'll be using a Lionel KW to power two trains and my accessories.

I use breakers but an automotive type fuse will also work. Shown here for a PW transformer with a TVS also.

Dale, do the circuit breakers have lights or do they trip into an 'off' position? How do you know which switch circuit has blown?

It trips mechanically and is visible, there is a rocker type switch. Be easy to wire up an indicating light, the same way it is is done with old Lionel transformers. Hopefully it will not trip that often if everything is running smoothly. The TVS is important if running modern trains.

I will be running conventional stuff so I take it that I won't need TVS, right? Thanks for the help!
Are you running only conventional with mechanical E-units, or are there also engines with electronic E-units - Williams and some Lionel?
I can't answer that because I don't know enough about my engines. I have a Lionel 8304 steamer, a Lionel 6-31938 diesel from a Southern starter set, a K-Line S-2 diesel from a Range Runner starter set, a MTH Christmas trolley and a Lionel 8209 switcher. I don't know what kind of motors they have but the K-Line is DC.
I'm sure some of these have electronics. For less than a buck, I'd put in the TVS.
