Some more clues.....

When I turn he lantern the switch will not move.  It has been working fine for years.  This issue started today.

How can I fix this issue with out having to remove the switch from the layout and make the lantern move the switch?

I think the issue started after the locomotive was going the wrong direction and the switch did an auto move. (auto derailment)   Than stopped working.

Thanks Gary

The lock is that rectangular steel wire spring that runs around three sides of the lantern bracket. It should lift a little ways to unlock the switch. Then turning the lantern show throw the  switch.   Can you figure out if that is not lifting at one end to unlock the switch?  If lifting the spring does not allow it to throw, look real hard at the track and see if something got jammed in the switch points that is holding it from throwing.

Hi David:

1.   Nothing blocking the points.

2.  I was able to unlock, following your procedures. Lift up on the three sided bracket and turn the lantern and move the switch.

3.  I will test the auto derailment feature, tomorrow. A small amount of electrical lubricant may help.

4.   Looks like we have success

Thank-you: Gary from the Motor City.
