Hi folks, my new project involves the orange lionel track serive truck that has poor lighting and forward only.

My wants are as follows;

-a small F/N/R board to give better directional control...who makes a small one?

-a circuit that gives me constant LED headlights and taillights "and" flashing LED beacons, two would be nice.

-BTW, conventional mode rules apply here as I don't plan on DCS or TMCC.

I'd figure a simple E/revrse board, some kind of low start up constant lighting and a flashing circuit, but it's putting it all together that's difficult for me....

Thanks for looking, and maybe this will be benificial to someone else in the future as well.

Some electronic reverse boards have headlight control for LED's, that would be the best bet for the directional lights.  The flashing beacons could just be blinking LED's, you can power those off track power easily.

I have a couple of Lionel 691-DREU-A reverse boards that have lighting outputs, they appear that they would just fit in the body of the Lionel truck.  Plenty of capacity for this task, or even a larger one.

Wow, that is small. Does the Lionel 691-DREU-A handle LEDs?

"Blinking LEDs"...I didn't even think of that, and that would be very easy too...I had visions of a 555 timer circuit being involved, but I like your idea better!

Hmmm, did you remove the front and rear guide trucks or are they just not on at the moment?...those fall off easily when putzing around with just the chassis and no body...too easily if ya ask me!
