The tree on the right I have been pulling up and replacing them with a more real looking evergreens. I have a small number of these, varying heights. What can I do to make them look better or not so uniform. I didn't want to say toy like.  The tree on the left is a cedar type tree. I found them while cleaning under the tables. Where would they work. All help appreciated.....Thanks PaulDSCN2111

In the picture the tree with the red arrow is the same as yours almost.  It is part of a fake Christmas tree branch someone gave me a bunch of.  I sprayed it with contact cement and then sprinkled it with various shades of "Woodland Scenic s" ground foam.  I also cut the base off and planted the tree in the ground.  Also prior to spraying with contact cement you could use standard spray paint and paint each tree with different shades of green.  I have about 40 0f them on the layout and mixing them with clusters of different homemade pines always works also.  I use shish kabob sticks with  torn up pieces of "scotchbrite pads attached and also finished them up with the ground foam trick.  I never plant my trees as singles, always plant in groups.  I have thousands of trees on my layout and variety is what works for me.  Lots of luck making pine trees.
