We are starting to expand our lettering offerings, including laser cut peal & stick letter sets, roof top billboard-style building signage and logos.

Letter sets have been available at York and from our SHOP menu on the website. More font variety and sizes are coming.

The roof top billboard-style building signage has evolved from our shadowbox building fronts offerings. We have several customers who have purchased multiple shadowbox sets and we wanted to create variety in building names. Each billboard-style building sign is basically custom as we incorporate the letters with the structural support pieces. The structure is assembled and painted. The letters are then painted (a different color) and stuck onto the structure.

We are working towards offering the signage in kit form. Building names that we deem universal will be made available. The current candidates are "WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CO.", "METRO-NORTH RAILROAD"and "RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY". I believe that we will develop three different letter heights as this product evolves.

Our latest item is a logo disk for the MTA. Is looks like we'lol offer is in two different size sets, small and large. You would get four different sizes in each set and enough pieces to make 8 logo disks. Here's our first crack at it:

There are two layers of Polybak with adhesive transfer on the back. You paint the pieces separately and then peal and stick to put them together. Note that you will get both versions shown- recessed lettering and raised letters.

Please comment on your interest in these items and provide any suggestions!

What paint type would be used? Seems like you might get paint crackling issues with certain paints as you peeled the backing.

"You would get four different sizes" -this portion of the statement can be dropped. It contradicts the previous statement that there are two sizes.

"Enough supplies for 4 of both sizes" seems clearer ( to me anyhow)

Oh how frustrating it is to watch you continue to use the signage I asked you to put on my building I orderd a year ago as your display model when you still haven't delivered the two buildings I paid for despite your mutliple promises to deliver the same.   I appreciate the one out of three buildings you did deliver but that doesn't justify failure to deliver the other buildings.  I have sent multiple emails asking nicely, but since they are not returned, I hope that perhaps this might assist you in remebering to deliver what you owe.

I am getting ready to offer our first Roof-Mounted Billboard Style building name kits in the website store. The first one will be "RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY". "NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD" and "WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CO." will follow. Initially all kits will be offered in 5/8", 3/4" and 1" letter heights. They have been designed to work with our shadowboxes, but will also be right at home on your own structures.

Assembly for us is easy as we designed them. I have never written a description a kit, nor directions on how to assemble one of our models. As those who have chatted with me at York know, I can go on and on, and on and on, and on and on about our process. To that point, I have written a product description and basic assembly instructions for the Roof-Mounted Billboard Style building name kits and am asking for constructive suggestions and criticisms. Please take a moment to review the finished kit results below and reply to this post.

PRELIMINARY PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND BASIC ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

You are purchasing a laser cut Roof-Mounted Billboard Style building name kit that spells out “RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY” in 5/8” high letters. Each word of the building name is designed to be a separate structure. Each word in the building name is nominally 6” long.

In the kit you will receive the three front structure elements, interior frames to support the structure, pieces of styrene strip to complete the back of the structure, Laserboard spacing letters to offset the building name letters from the structure, and the letters that make up the actual building name.

The kit consists of laser cut acrylic and styrene parts that are designed to be assembled with plastic solvent. Other adhesives may be used, but the results may not be the same. The spacing and building letters have adhesive transfer tape on the back and are designed for peal and stick assembly.

Assembly is easy! The interior frames are solvented to the front structure frame at intervals that you deem appropriate with the spacing of the letters. A machinist’s block is helpful to assure perpendicular assembly. Once the interior frames are attached to the front structure frame, the styrene strip is trimmed to correct length and solvented into the top and bottom slots on the back of the interior frames. Spacing letters are then pealed and stuck onto the appropriate locations on the structures.

The next step is to paint the structures and letters separately. We suggest a light coat of Krylon Gray Primer on the sign structures and letters once they have been mounted on separate paint sticks. We have found that Krylon Flat Black, Dull Aluminum and Primer Gray make good colors for the structures. Select the desired color for the letters. After the paints have dried, the letters are then pealed and stuck onto the appropriate spacing letters on the structures. Your new Billboard Style building name is ready to be installed!

Also please comment on the suggested prices: $14.99 for the 5/8" high letters, $17.49 for the 3/4" high letters and $19.99 for the 1" high letters.

Play Trains-

They are designed to be easy to assemble. Plastic solvent and machinist squares are the way to go. When you have a moment, please email some artwork for the things that you are looking for. I'll take a look at it when the dust settles.

As for the billboard signs developed so far, they are ones that shadowbox purchasers have requested. In cases where I believe that there is a market for more than one-of-a-kind, we'll do the artwork and sign design as part of the overall purchase. So far we are looking at "NEW YORK CENTRAL RAILROAD", "RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY" and "WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CO." Look for them in the store in a couple of weeks.

Also, since you the first and only Forumite to comment on the post, e-mail me your mailing address and I'll put a kit in the mail to you in exchange for feedback on how the kit goes together.
