New kit tonight . ..now finished

It was such an enjoyable project to carry out.

Thank you Frank. I just love your work. You have so many great vignettes, that you can study your work for hours and discover more and more details. Great Idea for the school. This local building is why I was thinking Psych center.

I did a little painting on the roof tonight. Still not quite right. Need to do some dirt washes. Let me know what you guys think about the color. Trying to get that Verde green look of copper.

I've visited there......some say I belong there! Two facts,,,,largest limestone building in North America.....Weston is modeled on my layout......My great grandfather lived there and worked for the B&O as an engineer.

Making more progress...

Did some more work on the Downtown deco kit today . I got all the outside walls painted, plus I weathered the roof yesterday and installed the roof trim pieces.

Now I need to get all the doors and windows installed and do the interior lighting .

I pulled another kit from the stack of kits for my layout that needs to be built. Tonight's kit is the Downtown Deco Maguire Hotel / Far East trading Co.

I'm not sure what I am going to make it into for the layout but I plan on doing an aged copper roof with that nice Verde green color. It might become a lodge of some sort or maybe a psych ward or something.

I got the walls glued up and the roofs fitted.

Tonight I finished up with installing all of the windows and touched up any paint that got scraped installing them. I'm done with this kit for now until it gets planted on the layout. Then I will go back and add some lighting and figures and signage. Onto the next kit.. Palace Hotel & card room.

I'm missing the one window on the third floor, can't find it anywhere.

You have no idea how this bugs me.

Al, I have some windows from Tichy that are marked 40" by 53"h. 13/16w X 1 3/16" H - 2(mm?) x3

Let me know if that would work.

A nice looking structure, and great job on it.

Very nice job.  If you built out the back and installed a hoist to allow materials to be lifted into the attic I think the kit could be turned into a decent late 19th/early 20th century factory.

Bill, I think I am still leaning toward an asylum. I can see having patients in the windows and a few wandering outside .

Downtown Deco has that old building flare that not only look great but are fun to build... they sure have allot of charm.

Marty I used 3 colors. Terra Cotta, Nutmeg ( milk choc. color) and Raw Umber. All of these are either Delta cream coat or Folk art acrylics from JoAnn Etc.

I apply these more as wash, sometimes a little darker and I work with all three colors at once while the paint colors are wet.

J Daddy, I really like the job you did on those two kits. I really do enjoy building DD kits, like you said lots of character and love the detail.
