The new catalog states that the H-10 Consolidation has whistle steam and "swinging bell". Is the swinging bell a mis-print?

This was posted in the other H-10 thread...
I emailed Dave Olson and he told me that he is trying to get the swinging bell in the engine but needs to first make sure that the mechanism can fit in the design. He told me when he has an official answer he is going to make an announcement on the forum.
Thank you Marty. I did not see the other thread. It would be nice if Lionel figured this stuff out before they publish a catalog. I hope they get us an answer before the pre-order deadline.
That set would be a must buy if it had swinging bell .
If the H10 has the swinging bell I'm in. My guess is it'll be the their best selling engine in many a year, If not I'll pass. I have the Legacy UP 2-8-0 Consoldation (similar type engine with oil tender) from two years ago. Its a great sounding runner but I don't need another one. If that big bell on the PRR E6 in the last catalog had that feature I would have bought it...

A fourm sponcer is selling this set for 920! And the price on the nigaria is under 1600.
I have never pre-ordered but if this engine comes with the smoking whistle and swinging bell......then I would surely be in!
Nice smaller steamer at a decent price point.
When did the H10’s go to pneumatic bells? Or were they always made that way?
Jon
How could Lionel price the engine without knowing if it would have a swinging bell? I would think this feature would add a material cost to build the engine. Is Lionel going to eat the extra cost if the feature can be added?
How many chuffs per driver revolution? The old ones had but one.

All Legacy Steam engines have 4 CPR on the non articulated engines.

Ha... what is a nigaria?
The set in my mind is the better of the deal, however you do not get the cool CCII vision line tender.

Ask a fourm sponcer.

Email me prr2100@gmail.com I want to know who! @jojofry
I am sure that JOJO meant Niagara, in selling, it’s not the spelling, It’s the Price, and if this VL Niagara is “prised” under $1600, it’s gonna sell, well. Thanks Jojo.
How do they make the bell swing? I want one for my Challenger.

They put a permanent magnet in the bell and and electro magnet in the shell. Then use a board to drive the electro magnet. The board is programmed to respond to the bell signal. Besides all of the above you would need room in the shell to add the electro magnet.

FWIW, the Challenger didn't have a swinging bell. Of course, neither did the H10, but that's another story.
